Hi there & welcome to my blog! I think New Years Resolutions are a great place to start. Considering, one of my resolutions is to start this blog. I’m sure I will have some sort of sappy, why I’m starting this blog post soon. But for now, thank you for everyone who has supported my YouTube career and social media journey for so long. Let’s get started:
There is a VERY good chance you failed at least ONE of your New Year’s Resolutions this year. There is a good chance some of you even failed them ALL. Not to worry, we are about to identify the bullshit that is holding us back from reaching our true potential. Once you identify it, it is SO much easier to take the right steps to achieving your goals and dreams. Now, you can REALLY make sure you are ready for your upcoming resolutions.
The Four Reasons
1. Self Sabotage
You are self sabotaging! There could be many, many reasons to why you are doing this. Maybe you don’t think you are worthy enough or you are afraid of the ‘what if’ situations you’e created in your head. Well, guess what? YOU ARE enough & WHAT IF all your dreams come true? You are strong, creative and resourceful. Your capability is up to you. I know, trying something new is scary and going after your goals is scary. It is even scarier to look back and realize you didn’t give it your all. Stop listening to the mean girl in your head and stop letting fear hold you down! Take daily steps to your goals versus laying in bed all day. Write a loving letter to yourself. Tell yourself all the reasons why you CAN and why you WILL! Then, when you find yourself in a time of doubt, read that.
2. Lack Of Motivation
Waiting for motivation or simply put, being lazy. At the start of a new year, motivation is quite abundant: the motivation of a fresh start, a chance to begin again, motivation of new goals. Therefore, we quit the moment we lose any motivation. We decide we probably don’t want it anymore. Deep down, you know you do! I think people assume all the successful people must be REALLY MOTIVATED all the time. Guess what? It does not work that way. I do not wake up and pound my chest like Tony Robbins. I wake up and reach for the snooze, like most people. In reality, it’s about learning to GET OVER IT. Get over the ‘need for motivation’ and just get to work. I promise, once you start, the motivation comes back. Why? You showed up for yourself and THAT is powerful. Get ready to look back at the end of the year, having completed ALL of your New Year’s Resolutions.
3. Outside Influence
There are a few ways this could be affecting your goals. Maybe you are asking the wrong people for help? If they have not gone through what you are about to go through, they don’t know the answer. Maybe you are afraid to ask the right people for help? What’s the worst that happens? they don’t email back. Ask for help, but ask someone who know’s their shit! Also, listening to other people. If you have a bunch of Negative Nancies all around you, you will never want to do the work. If they don’t believe in your New Year’s Resolutions, keep them to yourself. Work in silence and let your progress speak for you. We truly become who we stick around, so stick around like minded, go-getters who cheer you on!
4. Poorly Planned
Poor planning is a pretty common one. For instance, You can’t just say you want to lose 10 pounds and get rich. You need a plan and a smart one! Plan out exactly what you want to achieve and then break it down into smaller goals. Go from I want to lose 10 pounds to I want to lose .8 of a pound each month. Which means, it’s time to sign up for a gym membership and buy some veggies. As a result, you have smaller and easier to achieve goals. Leave yourself some breadcrumbs and a yellow-brick road map that leads you from start to finish. If I just said I wanted to be a full time YouTuber or write a book. It leaves confusion and a feeling of being overwhelmed.
In conclusion, doing new stuff is scary. Pushing for your goals is uncomfortable. The result is beyond worth it! Nothing you want int life comes from the mean girl in your head, sleeping all day or the mean girls around you. This is YOUR year once YOU decide it. Not just if you say it is, you have to show up for yourself. Most importantly, be willing to silence the chaos in your head, get out of bed when you are tired, keep working when you want to give up, ask for help and ignore anyone who doesn’t believe in you. I believe in you. You deserve the world and I want you to go out and get it!
