Confidence either cripples you or carries you. It leaves you ready to take on the world or ready to hide in your room. I’ve been on both ends and I can promise you, it’s possible to make it to the other side. It’s not only possible, it is necessary. YOU have the be the one who lives with your life, YOU have to be your biggest cheerleader and YOU have to take those big chances. If you don’t believe in yourself, it won’t matter if everyone else does. It’s time to take that power back so you can show the world and YOURSELF just what you are capable of.
BAD INFLUENCE: Who are you hanging out with? Who do you surround yourself with? Who do you follow on social media? If all of the influence around you leaves you feeling bad about yourself, why are you around them? You have full permission to unfollow and unfriend anyone who makes you question your own capabilities and worthiness. Surround yourself with people who cheer you on and encourage you to KEEP GOING. Set boundaries with the negative Nancies, gossipers and drama seekers.
GROOMING: I am a naturally lazy human. If I could, I would never wear makeup or even brush my hair. However, every time I leave my house with unbrushed hair & my dirty sweats, I feel it. I feel my energy lower and I feel my mind. I can hear the thoughts that pass through; telling me I am not good enough or worried what everyone is thinking. I am NOT saying you need to look a certain, be a certain size, wear a specific out. I AM saying that you KNOW there are grooming aspects that make you feel better. If that extra five minutes in the bathroom helps you face the world: do it!
COMPARISON: Do you compare more than you create? I use this term because I am a content creator. I was drowning in self doubt about my work for so long. I hated every piece of content I put out there. However, I spent more time looking at other people’s content than I did actually creating anything else. I added on more projects to my own work, to take away the amount of time I could spent scrolling and seeing other people’s accomplishments. Now, my work is thriving and I am beyond proud of what I put out. It is ok to scroll, but if you are scrolling more than you are living: we have a problem.
ROUTINE: Create your own confidence routine. What little actions make you feel YOUR MOST confident. For me, it’s a quick run, jamming to Beyonce and spending extra time on my hair. So, if I know I am going to an event and I want to feel my best: I AM doing those things that day. I don’t require it everyday, but always on the days that really count.
